A quick review of last weeks betting tips including an awesome play by play from Thomas Pieters and a flying cat!

Watching from the comfort of my living room on Thursday evening with a beer in hand I was full of the usual optimism after tipping some good chances... or so I thought.

Sullivan and Pieters had other ideas and decided to start the first hole of their campaign (easy par five) with a double bogey and a quadruple bogey respectively. I did ask myself after 30 minutes of coverage, the punters standard question: Why the fuck do I bother?

Luckily we love both of these chaps at #GCW and after a five minute tirade verbally abusing myself and booting the cat against the wardrobe I felt much better.

After Thomas Pieters missed the cut on Friday afternoon we reached out to the big man and kindly asked him ‘What the hell were you thinking on that par five?’ And because he is a top lad he said this...

"I actually hit the freaking fairway with my driver. Right up against first cut collar. Which to be fair is really high so I was thinking three wood cut since it was gonna grab my club a little bit which it did when I hit it and went straight right about one foot from OB fence.

"Was only 20 yards from flag at this point, with tree line rough and a bunker in front of a tight flag. Tried to chip out with very closed club face since my back was to the flag because of OB fence. Hit a tree and rolled really slowly to where I hit it from only to roll about a foot further, just out of bounds!

"Then dropped it same spot. Hit it in the rough which left a hard flop shot over the bunker. Hit the green then it rolled back in the bunker, then hit it on from the bunker and miss an eight foot for 8.

"Easy nine dude!"

He did see the funny side though: "I was laughing my ass of when it rolled back to my feet and actually sat against the fence”.

Let me assure you Thomas my cat didn’t enjoy it nearly as much as you did.

Anyway enough of that rubbish how did we actually fare, selections were...

Rory Mcilroy @ 13/2 First round leader.

15 GBP Loss

Rory shot a four under 68 which was two off the pace at the end of Thursday. If he doesn’t sort out his issues with the putter it will be a tough year for him.

If he could putt like Spieth he literally would lap the field!

Thomas Pieters @ 33/1 outright win

 10GBP Loss

Please see above, Thomas my vet bill is on route should be with you by Thursday.

Lucas Bjerrergaard @ 125/1 outright each way

 5GBP Loss.

The big Dane had a pretty solid week, making the cut comfortably and finishing a respectable tied 45th. You aren’t going to win a great deal though ranking 53rd in putting. As the old adage goes driving for show, putting for dough.

Andy Sullivan @ 33/1 outright each way

72.50 GBP Profit

As we mentioned previously we really like Sulli at GCW. Another great performance with Danny Willett’s clutch birdie putt from 12 feet on 18 the only thing stopping him from playing off for the title.

Finished second which resulted in a profit for the first weeks tipping. 10GBP each way on Sullivan resulted in a 72.50GBP profit and a gross profit of 42.50GBP.

This weeks tipping will be out on Wednesday and will focus on the Pebble Beach Pro AM Stateside.

Mainly as I have absolutely no interest in watching the Tshwane Open, my guess is neither will you.

Let us know how you got on with your own bets!

Cheers
James
